As an antidote to the alarmist, highly politicised and general irresponsible COVID-19 coverage by certain sections of the Australian media, at Zee Feed we’re staying focused. We’ve joined leading digital media titles in the ‘Healthy Headlines’ pledge to only publish content around the pandemic that’s 1) helpful and 2) necessary. We’re prioritising info that will help the nation move towards being able to safely open up again. Vaccination is at the core of that mission. So, how are we tracking? Questions about the rollout aside, how many people in Australia are actually vaccinated?

Government health sites are a pain to dig through, so here’s the data at a glance. We’ll continue to track Australia’s vaccination progress – bookmark the page or check back whenever you need an update.

What’s Australia’s vaccination target? The Federal Government has announced a four-phase plan to get Australia out of COVID-19 restrictions. We’re currently in Phase A (a.k.a, everything is bad); we need to vaccinate 70% of the 16+ population to get to Phase B; and 80% of the 16+ population to get to Phase C. Truth be told, lockdowns are still possible until Phase D – which is life as normal-ish – you can check out the plan here.

How many people in Australia are fully vaccinated?

Here’s the percentage of the entire population (aged 16+) with either one or two vaccines doses, according to the Government’s publicly available data – you can access this at any time here. Data Dated: 14 Oct 2021.

How many people under 40 are fully vaccinated?

Here’s the percentage of the youth population, aged 16 – 39, with either one or two vaccines doses, according to the Government’s publicly available data – you can access this at any time here. Of course, the low vaccination rates across these age brackets is overwhelmingly to do with a lack of eligibility and access as other more vulnerable groups are prioritised. Data Dated: 14 Oct 2021.

In good news, young people aged 12 – 15 can now also access vaccines (specifically Pfizer and Moderna). The vaccination rates for this age group are being recorded, however they do not contribute to the total national rate needed to ease restrictions:
